Experience required:- • Extensive experience of public lighting procedures • Current Driving licence • Extensive knowledge of electrical installation in relation to highway maintenance • Application of asset management principles • Application of standards in relation to street lighting and illuminated signs • Application of standards in relation to sign manufacture and erection • Application of quality management systems Main Purpose of Post To organise and manage the street lighting and sign shop teams, in order to fulfil the Councils objectives within a specified budget. Principal Responsibilities Manage budgets for programmes of works for the maintenance of the street lighting systems, Illuminated traffic signs (electrical components). Manage and pursue the objectives and general duties of the Street Lighting, Sign Shop and Traffic Signs Services. Prepare street lighting designs and contract documents for new schemes designed in-house and provide comments/monitoring for new development proposals designed by developers. Monitor the performance of the Street Lighting Technician in the maintenance of the Street Lighting inventory and maintenance database and the street lighting patrols Negotiate with the Electricity Companies for the County or in conjunction with other Highway Authorities for the supply of electricity for street lighting and illuminated signs. Liaise with the Trunk Roads Manager for the preparation of bids for Agency funding and for the execution of work on the Trunk Road Network. To be responsible for the development and implementation of health and safety principles and practice as laid down in Council’s Health & Safety policies and arrangements. To be responsible for implementation of equal opportunities principles and practice as laid down in the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy To be responsible for implementation and management of the ISO 9001/2008, OHSAS 18001/2007, Sector Scheme 8 for Street Lighting, Sector Scheme 9 for the Sign Shop and NICEIC registrations.
