RSD Technology are currently recruiting for one of our clients in Newport who manufactures & supplies quality Hot Rolled Coil (HRC)
for the domestic and export markets, supporting industrial applications such as construction, automotive, pipes & tubes, highways
With ambitious development plans for the site, we are looking for highly motivated and capable Shift Electricians to join our team.
You will report in to the Shift Foreman, assisting and contributing to the efficient operation of the Steel Manufacturing Plant.
Providing reactive and preventative maintenance and repair to the electrical equipment of a heavy engineering plant. Working to a
good standard of health and safety in a team working environment.
12 hour shifts 4 on 4 off
Minimum requirements for the role:
You should have served a recognised electrical apprenticeship (min ONC level or equivalent). Ideally with at least 2-3 years industrial
experience, working within a busy industrial environment.
Principle elements of the role:
• Fault location and repair of plant electrical systems. • Fault location and repair of A.C. Drives, A.C. wound rotor motors, D.C. Drives •
and their respective control systems, Closed loop control systems, Thyristor • systems for both A.C. and D.C. variable speed drives
and Transformers and their associated equipment • PLC interrogation • Carry out high voltage switching following authorisation •
Carry out electrical plant isolation following authorisation • Complete work lists/check sheets being part of a planned maintenance
system • Complete any job cards relating to work required to be carried out. • Liaise with production operatives on all areas of the
plant throughout the shift • Fault location and maintenance of cranes (25T, 40T, Jetty) • Be familiar with the operation and control of
each area. • Work as part of a multifunction maintenance team. • Take part in any training programmes that the company deems
necessary • Comply with all company policies and controls • Comply with all procedures, notices and any other requirements
relating to Health and Safety and the Environment
