The jobholder will be responsible for carrying out high quality maintenance tasks within a team environment,
in safe and efficient manner of operation, on defined Sections within Engineering Services.
The individual should ideally have Electrical understanding of diesel engines and control, experience of locomotive
maintenance and repairs and or Heavy Plant or HGV maintenance techniques beneficial.
Requirements / Personal Specification
The jobholder must be a time served indentured and completed an approved Electrical apprenticeship with NVQ level 3 (or equivalent) achieved.
Must have experience of working within a safe system of work
Any safety accredited course would be advantageous (E.G. IOSH or NEBOSH) Working towards IOSH or formal H@S qualification.
Experience in a relevant position and flexibility to undertake other discipline skills. Automotive electrical system Knowledge beneficial.
Full understanding of electrical permit systems (authorized and issue).
Ability to fault find on AC/DC drive systems .
Thorough knowledge of AC/DC control systems.
Knowledge of Locomotive or Heavy plant maintenance, fault finding and repair advantageous.
Knowledge of electrical maintenance procedures and practices.

Self-motivated to learn new skills, and process understanding.
Understand Permit system – ATW/PBS – CSO etc. to have a full understanding of electrical systems, to work towards being authorized to issue permits to systems, as required
Experience and knowledge of interrogating and investigating of PLC and Can Bus systems beneficial.

Be able to work anywhere on site, any shift rota with only 48 hour notice.
Advantageous to drive forklift trucks from 1.8 tonne to 12 tonne
Advantageous to operate a mobile elevated working platform.
