The main duties will be to support children within a Specialist Teaching Facility (STF) for pupils with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other comorbid conditions which include: ADHD, Dyspraxia and Developmental Coordination Difficulties, Speech and Language, Dyslexia, hypermobility and anxiety disorders. Our pupils range from Low functioning to high functioning ASD between the ages of 11-16. Some of our pupils attend mainstream curriculum lessons with appropriate support.

Relevant experience in supporting pupils with Special Needs, including Autism and associated Behavioural Management is desirable. The duties include supervision within lessons and supporting pupils with intervention strategies as outlined by their Individual Education Programmes (IEPs). The ability to further pupil’s learning & development, together with the ability to use initiative and creativity. Supporting pupils inside as well as outside the classroom, they will work directly to the Teacher in Charge, contributing to the overall ethos, work and aims of the school . They should have an empathy and interest in working with pupils with special educational needs and have experience and / or training in managing associated behaviours.
